Consumer Electronics Show opens: cutting edge technology unveiled

The very latest from the world of consumer electronics wowed thousands of visitors today, at the opening of the long-awaited Hometech Middle East 2007, the biggest trade show of its kind in the region.

The three-day exhibition, which brings the very best in home technologies including state-of-the-art entertainment systems, smart home appliances and wireless communications to the UAE, is being held at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

More than 200 leading consumer technology companies are exhibiting at the trade show, including world renowned consumer electronic brands such as Samsung, Panasonic, Hitachi, Audiovox, Runco, Loewe, Linn and G-Hanz.

Customised audio cars from Rockford Fosgate,such as the International Award Winning Rockford Fosgate Nissan 350Z, the Dhs 1.5 mil home entertainment system assembled by Imagine Technologies and the exciting XBOX 360 Living Room Experience are among the hottest attractions at the 2007 exhibition and a msut see for any visitor.

Hometech Middle East, which is running until Tuesday 15th, is also being supported by the Consumer Electronics Association. This year, for the first time a selection of the Best of Innovations 2007 from Consumer Electronics Show (CES) product honourees are being showcased at the exhibition.

Other exclusive launches at Hometech Middle East 2007 included treats from the Dubai Audio Center, who launched the Harmony 1000 - a smart-remote control from Logitech. Meanwhile, Al Futtaim went all out to impress on the first day of the event with the Consumer Electronics City - a specially constructed area which features a 103 inch plasma screen from Panasonic, Hitachi's new hybrid camcorder and other innovative products from Toshiba.

Dave Graveline, who is broadcasting everyday from Hometech Middle East, was also a hit with visitors and exhibitors alike with his technology show, Into Tomorrow. The official radio broadcaster for the Consumer Electronics Show added that the Dubai event "marked a new era for the region on the world consumer electronics stage."
