DM to train staff on health and occupational safety

Dubai Municipality will train its staff on Health and Occupational Safety this week by arranging a special training course from 15 to 17 May.

The course, to be attended by a group of inspectors and foremen in the Municipality, is being conducted as part of the ongoing internal training programme of the civic body for the year 2007.

Ahmed Ibrahim Al Zarouni, Head of Human Resources Development Section in the Personnel Department said the course will teach the participants the importance of health and occupational safety for the working force and the health hazards in the different working atmosphere and work sites of the Municipality and also the ways to limit the human loss and reduce the damages and health hazards in the work sites of the Municipality.

Al Zarouni said there will be a second training course this week called "Financial analysis and writing financial reports." It would be organized from 15 to 17 May and would be attended by a group of employees in the Finance Department.

He said the course is aimed at teaching the participants the importance of financial analysis and using financial indexes in decision making, briefing the participants on the methods and ways to analyze financial indexes, the tools used for analysis and also the benefits of financial analysis for investments.

Al Zarouni said a third training course of the week on First-Aid. The course, to be organized from 15 to 16 May, would be attended by a group of employees in the Contracts and Purchasing Department.

He said the course will provide the participants with the first-aid skills, basic first-aid knowledge to be applied in different situations and conditions in order to enable them to respond to emergency calls and situations on site.

Al Zarouni said the fourth training course of the week called, "Advanced supervisory skills" would be organized from 14 to 16 May and would be attended by a group of heads of units and administrative officers in the municipality.

He said the course will help the supervisors hone and develop their supervisory and leadership skills in order to raise the level of supervisory performance in accomplishing the plans and realizing the goals effectively and commendably. They will also enhance their behavioural skills in order to enable them increase the effectiveness of human aspects.
