Emmy winning cameraman joins City 7 TV

The Emmy award winner brings more than 25 years of international experience to the station, including freelance work as a cameraman, field producer, editor and logistics director. Briggs' career highlights include covering war-zones for global media news organisations and the United Nations (UNTV), and filming international sporting events including the America's Cup yacht race, for which he won an Emmy Award for Cinematography.

Briggs, who got his start in television as a cameraman and editor in his native Australia, has spent the past 15 years as a freelance camera operator, producer and logistics manager, with 14 of those years based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. His freelance work has taken him throughout Asia and the Middle East with Non-Government Organisations such as The HALO Trust, UNICEF (as director and cameraman for Sir Peter Ustinov), and Amnesty International. Other freelance clients included Twentieth Century Fox, E-Entertainment ('Sting in Vietnam') and the European Broadcasting Union. Prior to 1995, Briggs spent a year managing Reuters Television Bureau in Phnom Penh, and covered the country's historic elections in 1993 for the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC).
