Gulf BID 2007 is the GCC's largest exhibition for the construction and interiors industry and will represent exhibitors from over 18 countries this year.
As pioneers of the steel industry in the Gulf region, Qatar Steel recently ushered in a new era for the company with the launch of its new brand identity. The launch of a new look, values and vision for Qatar Steel is in keeping with the company's aim to remain at the forefront of the Gulf's construction industry and increase its competitiveness in the region.
'Gulf BID is one of the region's foremost construction exhibitions and offers Qatar Steel the opportunity to build key, long term relationships with partners, end-users and suppliers alike.
Following our recent re-branding, Qatar Steel is moving from strength to strength; Gulf BID provides us with the platform to highlight our leading role in the region's booming construction industry,' said Mr. Mohammed Al-Saadi, Marketing Manager, Qatar Steel Company [Q.S.C].
The boom in the GCC region's construction industry has fuelled a resulting surge in the demand for construction material and expertise. The Gulf's construction industry is expected to grow to a value of US$ 9.2 billion this year alone.
'Qatar Steel's core belief is to 'make steel matter'; and it is this vision that has enabled us to develop the region's infrastructure for over 30 years,' continued Mr. Saadi.
Gulf BID 2007 will take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center (BIEC) under the patronage of Bahrain's Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa. This year's exhibition will be double the size of its predecessor and will feature over 190 exhibitors.
Qatar Steel set to participate in key trade exhibition

About Qatar Steel
Founded in 1974 and formerly known as Qasco, Qatar Steel Company was the Gulf region's first integrated steel plant. It began commercial steel production in 1978 and it became wholly owned by the Government of Qatar in 1997.
Its Qatar-based mill is located in Mesaieed Industrial City, south of Doha and its facilities in Dubai, formed in 2003, and a subsidiary of the parent company Qatar Steel Company is situated in the Jebel Ali Free Zone near Dubai. In an effort to meet the growing demand for steel in Qatar and across the Gulf region, Qatar Steel is making huge strides in steel production. Its technically advanced expansion projects have been designed to produce world class products and help make Qatar Steel's presence felt on the steel map of the world.
Consistent with its pride in quality assurance its reinforcing bars produced in Mesaieed and Dubai have received several quality accreditations recognised by the industry, including UK CARES certification.
Its Mesaieed plant houses state of the art facilities including Midrex process based DRI/HBI Combo Mega Module, Electric Arc Furnaces, a continuous casting plant and rolling mills with the latest in automated features, well-equipped jetty and Quality Control laboratories.
Today the plant occupies an area of 707,000 square meters with a further area of 375,000 square meters already reserved for future development and expansion. Qatar Steel employs a total workforce of around 1,650 people, comprising 12 nationalities, with plant shifts operating on a three-shift system.
Both Qatar and Dubai facilities are operating under the umbrella of the same corporate brand identity as Qatar Steel and QASCO DUBAI STEEL FZE is now known as Qatar Steel Company FZE.
