Maani will be speaking at two IDF sessions entitled 'The Arab Cities Transformed' and 'Bad Planning / Infrastructure challenges'.
The IDF, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has been organised by Moutamarat, a joint venture of Tatweer, a Dubai Holding Company, and Saudi Research and Publishing Company.
The Forum will address a number of challenges facing the design community and examine how designers can guide the development of their countries and contribute to future innovations.
Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Tatweer, said: 'The IDF attracts designers from across the Arab world, illustrating the importance Arab designers place on this event to increase their profile. We hope IDF will work towards placing Arab designers on par with their international counterparts and highlight their contribution to national development.'
Among the leading figures from Jordan who will be attending the IDF are Dr. Rasem J. Badran, architect and member of the Design Advisory Board, Dar Al Omran; Samer Asfour, CEO, Design Jordan; Ahmed Humeid, CEO and design director, IKBIS.COM and, Dr. Shadia Touqan, Technical Office Director, Old City of Jerusalem Revitalisation Programme.
Maani said: 'There is a collective sense of urgency in Jordan to acquire knowledge that can be translated into positive growth. Our delegation represents a vital community that can put forth innovative ideas to promote development. Discussing these ideas and fine-tuning them with different perspectives from our regional and international counterparts is what we hope to accomplish at the IDF.'
In addition, Jordanian Design Studio will present key contributions by Jordanian designers and Design Jordan, an Amman-based industrial design company run by young Jordanians and one of Moutamarat's knowledge partners for the IDF.
Designers from all over the region are contributing to the Design Challenges online through www.whatsyourdesignchallenge.com.
