The move consolidates DHL's position as market leader in the country, where the company has been offering world-class services to customers for 30 years.

As the new Express Logistics Operations and Implementations Manager, Gordon will be responsible for managing DHL Express Logistics Centers (ELCs) in the Free Zones of Dubai International Airport and Jebel Ali, as well as two Strategic Part Centers (SPCs) in Abu Dhabi and Al Quoz. In addition, he will be responsible for the implementation of new logistics projects on behalf of customers who require tailored warehousing, order processing and distribution solutions.

"The appointment of Ben will further strengthen the DHL Express Logistics model, which brings the essence of express to complement traditional supply chain logistics, giving control, visibility and flexibility to our customers," said Janet Jweihan, General Manager for DHL UAE.

"As our express logistics operations and implementations manager, he will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our Express Logistics business to keep pace with DHL's rapidly expanding market share," Jweihan added.

DHL has implemented an expansion plan to its operations by dividing Express Logistics facilities into Express Logistics Centres (ELCs) and Strategic Parts Centres (SPCs). ELCs enable DHL to centralise, manage and distribute high-impact, high-value parts and products while SPCs are strategically located to manage customs cleared goods and provide value-added logistics services such as storage, inventory management and order processing.

"I look forward to getting to grips with this challenging role and to continuously provide our customers with the level of global reach they expect from DHL's vast network," said Gordon. "With key industries such as consumer electronics and mobile phones booming, this is a great opportunity to take the business forward into 2007 and continue DHL's success story in the UAE."
