Effat College holds fourth faculty lecture

Effat College will hold the fourth lecture of the 2006-2007 faculty lecture series on May 20th, 2007 in the Effat College Faculty Residence Lounge on campus from 4:30 to 6:00 P.M.

This lecture is entitled Information Systems and You .Dr. Annette Lagman, Vice Dean for Information and Educational Technology at Effat College will present this lecture. Female faculty members from various higher education institutions are welcome to attend this lecture.

Dr. Annette Lagman served as Head of the Computer Science and Information Systems Department at Effat College before she was promoted to the position of vice dean. She was also an Assistant Professor with the College of Integrated Science and Technology at James Madison University in Virginia, USA. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Mathematics from Colorado State University, USA. She also graduated with a BS in Mathematics from the University of the Philippines. Dr. Lagman has published several articles on computer networks and parallel architectures. Her current interests include Decision Support Systems, Educational Technology, and promoting Computer Science education for women.

Dr. Lagman's lecture will talk about the issues that involve the growing dominance of information systems and examine how these developments affect us all. It will
discuss the implications, opportunities, and pitfalls of living in an age that offers an abundance of information and easy access to it.
