RTA to participate in Mobility and City Transport Conference

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) delegation left for the Finnish capital Helsinki to participate in the Mobility and City Transport Conference and accompanied Exhibition to be held under the supervision of the International Union of Public Transport (UITP) at Helsinki Exhibition Center commencing on 21st until 24th May 2007.

The exhibition has a large participation of a number of transport's authorities and agencies and a number of specialists and experts in this vital field from different parts of the world.

The delegation is headed by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of Public Transport Agency at RTA and members: Abdul Majeed Al Khaja, CEO of Rail Agency, Adnan Al Bahar, Marketing Manager at Marketing and Corporate Communication (MCC) Department and Zainab Al Kassab, Senior Officer of Conference and Exhibition at MCC.

Prior to the departure, Al Mulla stressed the importance of this participation for the excellent opportunity the event provides to the RTA to showcase the latest in a number of its vital projects in this key service sector including Dubai Metro, public bus Master Plan, traffic and roads expansive and developmental infrastructure projects, as well as the marine transport stemming from RTA's strategic initiatives and its vision of providing 'Safe and Smooth Transport for All' in a way that tones with Dubai's position as an international economic and trade center and an attraction point for the investors from every corners in the world thanks to the political, economic, social and security stability the UAE enjoys, not to mention the sophisticated infrastructures and enormous facilities offered to the investors and businesspersons in the UAE in general and Dubai in particular.

Al Mulla expressed his pleasure for this participation, which is considered a great opportunity to brief the world to the projects the RTA is executing and its resolution to carry out a comprehensive plan to execute a number of vital projects including public busses, marine transport and metro, which are characterized with their high quality, cost-effective fares and coverage of vast distances in Dubai, in addition to developing and launching a number of awareness campaigns to urge the public to use the public transport that would assist in easing the traffic congestions, reduce the number of roads' accidents and lower the ecological pollution, which would certainly contribute to improve the public health and add to Dubai's tourist face more magnificence and splendor.

"This event is deemed an excellent opportunity to learn about other countries' successful experiences who preceded us in this aspect and benefit from those experiences and expertise to go with the urban expansion and demographical growth Dubai is witnessing and evolve the services the RTA is delivering to the public in accordance with its mission in preparing the required legislations and developing integrated solutions of road systems and land/marine transportation networks that are safe, smooth and line with Dubai's economic development plans and the highest international standards, and harmonize with the overall economic development plans the Government of Dubai is striving to accomplish," said Al Mulla.

It is worth noting that Dubai marked an immense achievement by winning the right of organizing the 59th World Union of Public Transport Conference and accompanied Exhibition in the year 2011 after competing with Singapore and Melbourne of Australia, in addition to the 1st Middle East and North Africa Public Transport Conference expected to kick off in Dubai this November.
