Richard Schestak, Director of Food & Beverage at The Fairmont Dubai is pleased to announce that The Exchange Grill has been awarded with a 2007 Wine Spectator Restaurant Award.

This contemporary dining venue has been recognized for its extensive wine program featuring an impressive selection of over 300 wines with 50 wines available by the glass. Formal recognition will take place in the August 31 Wine Spectator dining guide. This issue will also specify the level of award attained by The Exchange Grill.

"This is truly an honour since in the past, only two restaurants in the Middle East have been featured in the Wine Spectator magazine," said Jean-Pierre Joncas, Manager of The Exchange Floor. "We are certainly excited to be part of such prestigious company in the region."

This award bestowed by one of the leading publications for food and wine connoisseurs in the world, follows an impressive showing for the The Exchange Grill at the 2007 Time Out Dubai Restaurant Awards, whereby the contemporary dining venue was named Best Steakhouse.

The wine list at The Exchange Grill and adjacent Cin Cin (part of The Exchange Floor) consists of approximately 312 wine selections with an inventory of 1,500 bottles in The Exchange Grill and an additional 8,250 in the hotel cellar. The majority of the inventory for the dining venue is stored in Cin Cin with seven display cellars for guests to admire the collection.

The Exchange Grill imports wines from around the world that are not currently available in the market. Highlights include all the Premier Grand Cru Classe from Medoc in the Bordeaux region. It is also the official Penfolds ambassador in Dubai, featuring a large selection of their wines, including many by the glass.

The Exchange Grill holds the distinct honour of hosting renowned winemakers as part of its winemakers series. Past events have included the likes of Peter Gago, Jean-Philippe Delmas, Georges Haushalter, Pascal Jolivet, Benjamin Laroche and representatives from Villa Maria, Oyster Bay, Carmen, La Chablisienne and Kendall Jackson.

Wine Spectator magazine is a monthly publication for readers who enjoy fine dining and wine, cooking and entertaining, world travel and the arts. The magazine features current news, personality profiles, wine and food articles as well as pieces on entertainment and travel. Wine Spectator editors review more than 12,000 wines each year in blind tastings. Every issue of the magazine contains from 400 to over 1,000 wine reviews with detailed tasting notes and analysis.
