- Qatar: Sunday, May 20 - 2007 at 16:43
- PRESS RELEASE
Technology-focused businesspeople, researchers and government officials from around the Gulf are set to converge in Doha on 30 May, as Qatar Science & Technology Park hosts its inaugural summit on technology-business trends.
"The knowledge economy in Qatar and the region is truly coming alive at this moment" said HE Dr. Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chairman of QSTP. "The investment in research and education is reshaping the business world, and with that come new opportunities and threats. The time is right for the technology-business community to come together, examine those issues and show the path forward."
Dr. Al Kubaisi will give the opening address of the conference. Speakers will face tough interview-style questioning from Darren Jordan of Al Jazeera English on issues such as starting a new business, intellectual property, the talent market and venture capital, while. delegates will engage in active discussions throughout the event. Also taking to the stage will be Quasi, a robot developed by Carnegie Mellon University researchers, small in size but big in intelligence.
QSTP TECHtalks - The 2007 Conference marks a break from the usual TECHtalks format, in which one evening a month experts talk about a different technology issue. The series has proved very successful with numbers growing every month since its February launch. QSTP also reports a strong level of early interest in the 30 May conference.
QSTP TECHtalks - The 2007 Conference will be held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Doha and conducted in English.
