"We are very pleased that you are here, and we welcome you to Lufthansa Technical Training." With these words Oliver Pape, Training Manager, Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT), welcomed ten students and their teacher from the Dubai Men's College immediately after their arrival on the 13th of April to the Lufthansa Base in Hamburg.

The nine-day field trip included an informative and varied agenda. Including detailed information on the services and products offered by LTT, a tour of the Lufthansa and Airbus facilities in Hamburg, a visit to the trade fair "Aircraft Interiors Expo 2007",and in addition a tour of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.

Christoph Meyerrose, Managing Director of LTT, emphasized that a comparison with education and training methods in other regions of the world, and the exchange of ideas were vitally important aspects of the visit. "As a global provider of training to the MRO market we are always very interested in introducing our company, and our products to potential customers, and to get a feedback - especially from the burgeoning Middle East region"
said Meyerrose.

During their stay, Christina Brandt and Stefan Quitmann, who are studying Aircraft Design and Engineering at Lufthansa Technik, were made permanently available to act as contact persons for the team from Dubai.

For both sides the visit was completely successful: "We are very pleased to have been able to work cooperatively with Lufthansa to arrange this international experience for these students of Dubai Men's College. The knowledge gained and the opportunity to experience another culture, are invaluable to their continued academic, occupational, and personal growth. My conversations with the students upon their return have been consistently positive. They enjoyed being able to learn about their academic field of study in another country; and they are most appreciative to have had the opportunity" said Dr. Bill Vega, Director Dubai Men's College.

Richard Pitt, LTT's Dubai based Regional Director, Middle East & Africa said "it was a real pleasure to have had the students visit our facility in Hamburg. I hope that we can make this an annual event between LTT and the Dubai Men's College. The cooperation between UAE Educational Institutes and LTT is something that I personally want to promote in this region. LTT is always looking at new and innovative ways in which to bring overseas students to our facilities. Our sales office at the Dubai Airport Free Zone would welcome approaches from other institutes in the Gulf region."
