DM employees to get tips on innovative problem solving ways

Dubai Municipality has organized a special training for its staff this week on innovative ways in problem solving and decision making.
Ahmed Ibrahim Al Zarouni, Head of Human Resources Development Section in the Personnel Department said the course, to be held during 22 to 24 May, will be attended by a group of administrators and technicians in the municipality.
He said the course is aimed at enhancing the skills of the participants in understanding the problems at work and of the employees, the methods of dealing with the problems and using innovative ways and applying creative thinking in diagnosing, analyzing and solving problems.
Al Zarouni said a second training course will be held during the week during 23-24 May on Benchmarking, which will be attended by a group of heads of units and administrative officers in the municipality.
He said the course is aimed at teaching the participants the concept and tools of benchmarking, explaining them the relation between benchmarking and applying best practices in organizational work, making them understand the significance of benchmarking in enhancing the activities of the organization in addition to introducing the participants the methods to deal with the resistance to change in the organizational work.
Meanwhile two other training courses were commenced on Sunday, which will be lasting until Thursday. The course called, "Time and self management and controlling the work pressures," is being attended by a group of officers and administrative support staff in the municipality.
Al Zarouni said the participants would be familiarized with the reasons, forms and sources of work pressures and ways of bettering the condition. They will be briefed on the methods of time management on daily, weekly, monthly or annual bases and developing the participants' skills in innovation and novelty regarding time management. They will also be acquainted with the modern methods of controlling work pressures.
There will also be presentations on certain applications in time management, economic, organizational and behavioural impacts of time management, and some success stories in time management.
Al Zarouni said the fourth training course of the week called, "Dubai Government Excellence Programme standards," is being attended by a group of officials in leadership positions in the Buildings Department in the municipality.
He said the course is aimed at introducing the participants the basic points to be focused at different levels while applying the main and secondary standards for the programme and details of secondary standards and methods in achieving the requirements and the methodology for internal assessment in addition to usage of radar system in the evaluation process.
