AUD wins regional award at IAA Dentsu InterAd XI Global Student Advertising Competition
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, May 21 - 2007 at 13:09
- PRESS RELEASE
Business students from the American University in Dubai won the Middle East and Africa award in the International Advertising Agency (IAA) Dentsu InterAd XI Global Student Advertising Competition, and are now running for the worldwide award.
Dr. Lance de Masi, AUD's President commented: "While it may seem a little too early in AUD's 12-year history to talk about "traditions," taking first place in the IAA's INTERAD seems to be one. Winning the regional competition several times and having taken world-wide honors three years ago, speaks well of our students, faculty and hands-on curricula (both business and creative)."
This prominent worldwide advertising competition is intended to assess students' skills to design and implement comprehensive and practical marketing communications programs aimed at addressing key issues in today's global environment.
The competition is a collaboration between the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Millennium Campaign and the IAA, and is partly sponsored by Dentsu, one the world's largest global advertising/marketing organizations. The theme of this year's competition is to challenge students to address major goals that will lead to the eradication of poverty.
The regional winners and runners-up receive InterAd XI certificates and plaques for their achievements. The plan books and presentations from each of the five regional winning teams representing Asia Pacific (North and South), Europe, Latin America, Middle East/Africa, and US/Canada, have been sent to the InterAd XI world jury which includes senior marketing communications professionals and UNDP Millennium Campaign leaders for final judging. The InterAd XI World Champion team will be selected at the end of May.
