Dubai Properties will also use rock revetment on the quay walls, which are 7.4m deep. Revetments are structures placed on banks or cliffs to absorb the energy of incoming water. They are usually built to preserve the existing uses of the shoreline and to protect the slope. The revetments will further contribute to the preservation of the ecology of the surrounding area.
Mohamed Binbrek, CEO, Dubai Properties said:
"Preservation of the environment is an important consideration in all our projects. We as master developers are not in competition with the environment; instead it is our duty as a socially responsible organisation to study, analyse, and cooperate with the environment, and integrate our projects into the surrounding landscape."
Dubai Properties has already completed the first three phases of the Business Bay Creek, which stretches from Oud Metha Road to Sheikh Zayed Road. Work on phase four began earlier this year, and will span 2.5 km from the original Creek head at Ras Al Khor towards Oud Metha Road, with a width of 200 metres. Phase four is expected to be completed in two months.
