Omantel enhances telecoms services in Sohar Port

Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) has launched a campaign to enhance telecoms services in vital industrial regions by going through companies and factories to attend to their requirements for additional services.

A team from Omantel recently visited Wilayat Sohar in its effort to accelerate investment opportunities within Wilayat Sohar. The district promotes vital industrial activities, which has been attracting many investors.

Omantel's group recently implemented a project worth more than RO 1 million to provide Sohar port and the subsidiary companies with the telecom services due to the enormous industrial projects coming in the Sultanate.

Sohar Port is one of the vital economic zones and Omantel has planned to provide additional services for the telecom sector in industrial regions to support the enormous investment environment.

Omantel's team, led by Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Wohaibi, CEO of Omantel and number of officials visited the Sohar industrial region. During their visit they have met the officials from other companies and factories. Under the expansions and investments which Sohar Port is witnessing, the team enquired for the companies' needs of additional services for telecommunications.

Eng. Humaid Saleh Al Muslmani Manager of Customer Service Department in AL Batinah, Musandam and Al Buraimi regions made presentation about the additional services requirements of the companies and factories which are under the expansions, investments and industrials which are under the establishment at the moment.

The team observed the most important strategic projects in the Wilayat including industrial projects and tourism. Dr. Mohamed Al Wohaibi met the CEO of Sohar Port company, officials, general director of the Sohar industrial region and The Sohar Aluminum Company's officials. During the meeting they have discussed about the future projects which will be implemented in the wilayat during next phase, including the need for telecom services. The team has visited Omantel's customer services centers and saw the staffs exerting their best efforts.

Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Wohaibi recommended provision for the companies and factories with the additional services which are needed. This will enhance Omantel's role in supporting the enormous industrial activities in the region, coping with the development and investments in these regions.
