RTA participates at Mobility and City Transport Congress in Finland

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) participation in the Mobility and City Transport Congress and Exhibition in its 57th session, which kicked off in the Finnish Capital Helsinki.

The event runs from 20 May - 24 May with a huge participation of grand organizations, experts, specialists and policy decision makers in this vital sector including 2900 members from 90 countries.

H. E. Tarja Halonen, President of Finland, inaugurated the Exhibition where a number of Finnish, European and international figures and scores of journalists and reporters also attended.

The RTA delegation is headed by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of Public Transport Agency and members: Abdul Majeed Al Khaja, CEO of Rail Agency, Najeeb Al Zarooni, Director of Inter-city Bus Department, Abdu Aziz Malik, Director of School Bus Department, Engineer Ahmed Shareef, Manager of Interface, Integration and Coordination at Rail Agency, Adnan Al Bahar, Marketing Manager at Marketing and Corporate Communication Department (MCC), and Abdulla Taeib Kassim, Director General of Halls and Operations at Dubai International Convention Center, as well as Zainab Al Kassab, Senior Officer of Exhibitions and Conferences at MCC of RTA.

Al Mulla reaffirmed that this participation comes within directives from H.E. Mattar Al Tayer Chairman and Executive Director of RTA, to learn about the best practices and latest developments in the public transport sector for the importance this sector has in bolstering the urban, tourist, trade, economic and other vital projects that contribute to enhance the progress drive the UAE is experiencing in general and Dubai in particular, as well as largely benefit from the organizational capabilities of exhibitions and conferences so as to make the 59th UITP Conference to be held in Dubai in 2011 a success with Dubai's winning to organize the event after defeating Singapore and Melbourne of Australia, not to mention Dubai's organization of holding the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) this November.

"This participation is considered a great opportunity to brief the authorities, organizations, experts, specialist and policy decision makers in this vital field to the pioneering experience of Dubai in the public transport and the strategic initiatives the RTA launches from time to time to execute a number of key projects including the construction, expansion and evolvement of roads and bridges, Dubai Metro, public bus Master Plan by purchasing new and sophisticated buses and other innovative solutions, in addition to the marine transport solutions, strategic and corporate governance and corporate services sectors, as the RTA endeavors through its commitment to excellence to be the reliable name behind all the service projects in the UAE in a way that tones with Dubai's regional and international stature as a trade and economic center, and an attraction point for foreign investors and businesspersons from all parts of the world to go with the urban expansion and demographical growth the UAE is witnessing on all fronts," said Al Mulla.

The RTA's Stand at the exhibition witnessed a large response from visitors to learn about the latest strategic initiatives and vital projects the RTA is currently implementing in Dubai including Dubai Metro, which is considered the first of its kind in the region and the world's longest driverless metro system line. The visitors, conferees and exhibitors expressed their admiration of the RTA projects and the development in Dubai in all sectors including the service one.

More than 270 organizations from 44 countries are participating in this event.

During the Congress, Mr. Hans Art was re-elected as the UITP Secretary General for the next five years. Mr. Aat is deemed as one of the internationally renowned public transport experts and has conducted plenty of developmental researches and solutions in this field.
