- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, May 23 - 2007 at 07:36
Governments in the UAE will collectively spend $5.24bn in developing six airports over the next few years, Gulf News reported, citing research by the Streamline Data Group. That accounts for 60% of all Gulf airport projects. The largest investment is in the new Dubai World Central airport coming up in Jebel Ali. The first phase is due to be completed in Q3 2008; it will accommodate 7m passengers per year initially, and up to 120m when finished.
