In his new role, he oversees all aspects of new business development and marketing of process services within the region. With 29 years experience in the pipeline and process services industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge in process services and international business development, particularly in helium leak detection, nitrogen purging, and temporary water injection services.

International Experience in Process Services

Following an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, Dave launched his career in the early l970s as a service engineer in Great Yarmouth, England with a major service company. He then joined NOWSCO in 1975, and for the next 12 years he served in a number of roles in well services and process services in the UK, Holland, and Singapore. He was responsible for establishing and supervising the industry's first helium leak detection operation, which was carried out in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. From 1987 to 1989, Warnes ran his own company called Applied Nitrogen Services Company, which was eventually acquired by Salvesen Oilfield Technology and resulted in Dave accepting a senior management position with COMTEC, the company's pipeline and process services arm. While with COMTEC, he worked in a number of engineering, operations and region management roles that took him to Singapore and Aberdeen. When BJ Services acquired the company in 1996, he continued to manage operations for BJ PPS in the Northern North Sea and Scandinavia until he was named global business development manager - Water Injection Services in 2000, and transferred to Dubai.

The next six years saw Dave operating from BJ PPS bases in Thailand, Australia, Qatar and Singapore, while he worked hard to establish water injection services as one of the division's core service lines. Following a brief stint with a major service company in 2006, Dave returned to BJ PPS this month as business development manager of process services for the Middle East - Asia Pacific Region.

Originally from Great Yarmouth, Dave reports to John Grover, business development manager - Middle East-Asia Pacific Region, and is based at the MEAP region headquarters in Dubai.

"With his extensive international experience in process services, I am confident that Dave will develop many opportunities within the Middle East-Asia Pacific region for BJ PPS," said Lindsay Link, general manager of BJ PPS.

The BJ PPS portfolio of process services features a wide range of pre-commissioning, commissioning and turnaround solutions that involve nitrogen purging, helium leak testing, chemical cleaning, oil flushing and flange management. To ensure that its customers receive world-class process services, BJ PPS employs local staff at its network of bases around the world.
