Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development holds forum on 'Knowledge Management'

Dubai Institute for Human Resources Development (DIHRD) organised 'Knowledge Management Forum', a series of educational lectures on human capacity building.

The forum was attended by Dr. Yousuf Al Akraf, Vice chairman of DIHRD; Dr. Hamad Shaibani, Director General of Dubai Islamic Affairs and charitable Activities Department; Ahmed Nusseirat, General Coordinator of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme; Mohamed Jassim, CEO of DIHRD; in addition to a number of knowledge management professionals, quality and excellence specialists, and I.T. Specialists from different Public and Private organisations in Dubai.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Yousuf Al Akraf said: "Knowledge is a treasure which helps organisations improve their processes and develop competencies in administration, research, and I.T. The quality and excellence programmes in the UAE recommend that organisations focus on knowledge management: its creation, selection, organisation, utilisation, and spreading."

Participants included members from a number of leading public and private sector organisations such as e-Government, Dubai Municipality, Tejari, and Oracle. The papers submitted at the forum, focused on sharing the world's best practices as well as importance of knowledge management in government programmes of excellence, in e-government, and in e-marketplace.

Dubai Islamic Affairs and charitable Activities Department sponsored the "Knowledge Management Forum". The papers, assessed by Oracle, were presented by Ahmed Nusseirat, General Coordinator of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme, Dr. Okan Geray, Manager, Strategic Planning, Dubai eGovernment; Rami Jaghoub from Tejari, Michael Christian from Oracle, Omar Khitab and Hussein Al Ferdan from Dubai Municipality, Dr. Sandra Willis and Sanjana Bhardwaj from Takamul, and Khalid Rashid of the Arab Media Foundation.

Dubai Institute for Human Resources Development was established in 2003, under the instructions of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President Prime minister and Ruler of Dubai. DIHRD is a governmental institution focusing on continuous learning and development.
