This step comes as part of the Ministry's strategy to communicate and educate students and increase their awareness about the importance of the Federal National Council in enhancing political participation in the UAE.
Dr. Said Al Ghufli, Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of State for FNC affairs, presented a detailed explanation about the formation of the Federal National Council and its legislative and supervisory roles.
The presentation also outlined the role of the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs in the coordination between the council and the cabinet, its participation in preparing legislation related to the Council's role and its supervision of the media affairs of FNC members.
The seminar witnessed important contributions from the students who expressed their interest in knowing more about the role of the Federal National Council in activating political participation in the country. They asked questions on the social activities of the council, the role of women and the issues of complaints and the how the council handles complaints from the public.
Dr. Al Ghufli, Assistant Secretary-General of the FNC Affairs said: 'This step comes within the strategic plan of the Ministry to highlight the importance of the Federal National Council and its role in consolidating the culture of political participation in UAE society. We aim through these seminars to identify the role of the council in developing parliamentary life, through involving the students and enhancing their knowledge around the procedural and functional role of the ministry in developing the work of parliament'.
'This seminar is part of an integrated program covering all the emirates in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology. The Ministry's outreach to students comes as a result of our leadership's concern to enhance their performance and development as contributing citizens of this country'. Dr Al Gufli added.
