Saudi Transport Acting Minister visits RTA's stand at Mobility and City Transport Congress in Helsinki

On the sideline of the Mobility and City Transport Congress and Exhibition whose activities concluded yesterday at Helsinki Convention and Exhibition Center in the Republic of Finland, H.E Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Head of the RTA's delegation participating in this event and CEO of Public Transport Agency and Abdul Majeed Al Khaja CEO of the Rail Agency, met H.E Abdul Aziz Al Ohali, Saudi Transport Acting-minister who visited the RTA's stand at the exhibition.

During the meeting, the bilateral relations between the sister countries, GCC countries, Tunisia and Jordan and ways of widening and developing them for the interest of the countries in the region and their aspirations to cater to different economic, commercial, tourist, real estate and service sectors including the public transport and how important to keep abreast of the international developments in this field, through the effective participation in the related conferences and exhibitions organized in various countries and how important to benefit from the leading states in this vital sector, which constitutes a strong contributor to the progress drive the region is experiencing in general and the UAE in particular, in addition to discuss the mutual cooperation ties in the public transport and work on elevating this sector under the umbrella of the UITP.

Al Mulla confirmed that he had briefed the Saudi Acting-minister to the latest vital projects and strategic initiatives the RTA launches based on directives from Mattar Al Tayer, RTA's Chairman of Board of Directors and Executive Director, including the roads and bridges, Dubai Metro's progress, Bus Master Plan, Dubai Taxi fleet' evolvement, Marine Transport development and the services delivered by the Strategic and Corporate Governance and Corporate Support Sectors and the essential role they play in the enhancement of the RTA's plans and projects.

The meeting also dealt with the information exchange with regards to the development of services of different kinds, monitoring systems, smart cards, GPS, utilization of clean fuel, ways of encouraging the public to the public transport modes, building the grand and small stations, unified systems of using different public transport modes like, buses, metro, light train, tram, marine transport and taxis that would certainly contribute to ease off the traffic congestions, reduce the accidents and lower the pollution level, which would improve the public health and raise productivity.

Al Ohali praised the pioneering experience of Dubai and the progress the UAE is achieving in all the economic, trade and service sectors, and the projects the RTA is executing through all of its agencies that would indisputably enhance Dubai's stature regionally and internationally as a trade and economic center and an attraction point for investors, businesspersons and organizations operating in different service, real estate, tourist and financial and other vital sectors playing a key role in the development of commerce and raise the growth level on all fronts to service the national economy.

Abdul Majeed Al Khaja, CEO of the Rail Agency of RTA delivered a presentation entitled "Dubai Mobility Challenges" where he dealt with a number of subjects including Dubai development and population growth, infrastructure projects, the challenges the RTA is facing and other vital topics.

Al Mulla also pointed out that this event had attached a great attention to the ecological side for the importance it holds and the pivotal role it plays in the evolvement of the global economy from all service, sanitary and social perspectives. He also referred to the participants' emphasis on the necessity of motivating the public to utilize the public transport modes of all kinds to obtain a clean environment and a clear air.

Al Mulla also reaffirmed that the RTA's Stand at the Exhibition had received an enormous number of visitors, exhibitors and top figures including the UITP Secretary General and CEO who highly rated the RTA's Stand and the magnificent picture it mirrors about the UAE in general and Dubai in particular on all fronts.
