Tetra Pak Arabia commemorates World Milk Day in Dubai
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, May 27 - 2007 at 12:49
- PRESS RELEASE
Tetra Pak Arabia, the Arabian market company of one the world's largest suppliers of processing and packaging systems for liquid dairy products, is organising a day of festivity to observe World Milk Day.
"Aimed at raising awareness about the importance of milk protected in carton packages, the daylong event will be held at the Children's City in Dubai Creek Park and will be open to public," said Amar Zahid, Managing Director, Tetra Pak Arabia.
The event will involve schools, pupils and their families who can all participate in a range of activities including art competitions, slogan creating competitions (aimed at older children), short plays around the theme of milk, kindergarten colouring competitions and a variety of games all centred around the topic of healthy and nutritious milk. Tetra Pak Arabia's local and regional dairy partners like Lancor, KDD, Tiffany, Saudia, Nada and Safa amongst others, will be providing free samples of long life milk to people participating and attending the event.
Schools will also be given an opportunity to set up their stands themed around milk, where students will be selling art / craft items. The proceeds of these sales will go to a local charity or the school library fund, as per the discretion of the school. Entry to the event will be priced at AED 15 for adults and AED 10 for children.
"World Milk Day gives Tetra Pak a great opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of drinking milk amongst the young and old and the protection that our packages provide to milk. In line with our motto, protects what's good, we believe that health consciousness should be inculcated from a young age. This is what we aim to do through an enjoyable platform like a fun-filled World Milk Day in Dubai. We hope that people participating in the event continue to influence other men, women and children to drink milk for a healthier lifestyle," said Jesus Ortega, Dairy Category Manager, Tetra Pak Arabia.
The Dubai event is part of Tetra Pak's ongoing drive to raise awareness about the health benefits of packaged milk products in the region. Earlier in the year, the company partnered with the Ministries of Health and Education in Saudi Arabia to raise awareness about the health benefits of drinking milk.
Tetra Pak is also supporting the work of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) in many countries of the world to help spread this message worldwide. Under this three-year cooperation agreement with IOF Tetra Pak will be a major partner for IOF activities to promote awareness of how individuals can build strong bones and contribute to their own bone health. The objective is to raise awareness on improving bone health by taking healthy diet, staying active and keeping abreast of the risk factors for osteoporosis. IOF identifies milk and other dairy food as being among the richest and most readily available dietary sources of calcium, an essential nutrient in building bones.
