The forum brought together experts from Europe, Australia and the United States of America to collaborate and exchange expertise amongst researchers in the ICT sector. The ICT Research Forum was held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Since Etisalat commenced operations over three decades ago, it has been committed to the development of the economic, social, technological and scientific sectors of the UAE and has launched numerous initiatives and sponsored many social activities and events. The sponsorship of this event reinforces Etisalat's active involvement and contribution to the country.

Etisalat has played a significant role in the growth of the country's technology sector and has helped make the UAE one of the most advanced countries in the region. The World Economic Forum, in its annual 'Global Information Technology Report 2006-07', has again ranked the United Arab Emirates as the leading country in the Arab world for 'Networked Readiness'. In February of 2007, the UAE was ranked by INSEAD in its innovation index as one of the top 14 countries in the world.

The main theme of the conference is to discuss actions required to progress technology research in the UAE. Speakers will address many issues in this regard, including the launch of the UAE ICT Development Fund. This forum is an important conference for researchers in the communication and technology sector.
