Etisalat reaches out to connect with industry

Etisalat is a key participant at Connect 2007, the international telecommunications summit being held at the JW Marriot Hotel, Dubai, between 27th and 31st May 2007.

With industry and thought leaders from around the region and beyond attending and participating, this event is a defining networking opportunity for the industry. Etisalat is the Official Partner of the event.

Speaking during the first day of event were two Etisalat executives, who focused on their areas of expertise within the framework of the Corporation that has grown to be among the most respected telecom operators in the region. Ahmed Bin Ali, Vice President - Corporate Communications, Etisalat, presented the keynote address at the opening of the summit, and Saood Al Juneibi, Director - Portfolio Management and Integration, Etisalat International Investments, presented the experiences, learnings and future plans of the Corporation on an International scale.

The keynote presentation by Ahmed Bin Ali was under the title 'Reaching Beyond & Reaching Together: Vision and Strategies for Converged Operators". He summarised the key achievements of the Corporation in over 30 years of operations, supported by facts and figures that place the Corporation clearly in the lead of the regional telecom industry. The Vision and Strategy of Etisalat were outlined in four key focus areas: 'Listening to Customers', 'Listening to our Partners', 'Understanding their Needs', and 'Developing Products and Services that make their lives better'.

He also highlighted Etisalat's efforts in adapting technology to meet current and future needs. He spoke about the significant role that Etisalat has played in supporting various social activities and initiatives, seeking to provide added value to the communities within which it operates.

Saood Al Juneibi represented Etisalat on a panel that discussed 'International Growth by Acquisitions and Winning New Licences'. He provided background information on Etisalat's international subsidiaries and partner companies, and the history of Etisalat's international expansion. He also announced some of the opportunities that Etisalat is currently looking towards, including the second fixed line licence in Saudi Arabia, the 3rd mobile licence in Syria, and purchasing of shares during the partial privatisation of Algerie Telecom.

The speaker panel at Connect 2007 represents leaders from various streams of the telecommunications industry, including operators, regulators and other organisations. There are also four workshops that will run on the sidelines of the summit.
