Bin Sulayem opens Materials Handling & Logistics Middle East and Automechanika Middle East

The Director General of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, inaugurated two trade exhibitions - Materials Handling & Logistics Middle East and Automechanika Middle East - at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday (May 27th, 2007).

Both exhibitions, now in their seventh edition, will run until May 29. Epoc Messe Frankfurt is the organizer of both the exhibitions.

Materials Handling & Logistics is the Middle East's largest trade fair for the freight, warehousing and transport industries. More than 125 exhibitors including major multi-nationals from 20 countries are participating.

Automechanika Middle East is seeing the participation of 811 companies from 44 countries. Last year, the exhibition received over 10,500 visitors from 89 countries.

Also present at the opening ceremony were Mr. Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, DTCM Executive Director Media Relations, Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot, DTCM Executive Director Human Resources and Training Solutions, Mr. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, DTCM Executive Director Conventions and Heritage Division, and Mr. Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Speaking to the media persons after the opening, Mr. bin Sulayem said the value of cars and other vehicles spare parts trade in Dubai in 2005 was more than $5 billion compared with US$3.5 billion in the previous year.
