Acer's first external online promotion reaps impressive results

Acer, known for its innovative marketing campaigns during GITEX, offered special offers on laptops, computers, servers, and monitors online at www.jackys.com. For the duration of GITEX 2002, the Jacky's Electronics website: www.jackys.com promoted mainly Acer products on its home page, and the site's other main pages.

"We offered Acer products for online purchase at the same amazing prices that you would get at GITEX Computer Shoppers. This meant that if you wanted to avoid the crowds and traffic around Dubai during GITEX, but still benefit from Acer's special pricing, you could. We are very proud of the fact that Acer has chosen to work with us during its first-ever online promotion in the greater Europe and Middle East region. We are, of course, extremely privileged to have a growing brand like Acer as one of our main product brands," said Ashish Panjabi, General Manager, Jacky's Electronics LLC.

The website took on the corporate green color of Acer during Gitex 2002, logging a 40 per cent growth in traffic to the site as increasing numbers of customers started taking advantage of the Acer Gitex promotion online. The product details, buying guides and comparison charts provided on the website also were used by customers to do their pre-buying research.

Jacob Varghese, Country Sales Manager-UAE, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd. said: "This was the first time that Acer did a project with an external portal, and we are glad with the results. The highlight of this promotion was that customers who could not visit the GITEX exhibition had the advantage and the convenience to order Acer products online, at the same prices."

Highlighting the importance of the internet in influencing purchasing decisions, Varghese also indicated that Acer would look at continuing its association with Jacky's Electronics LLC to introduce innovative ways to market their products and offer the final advantage to end customers.
