MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) sets best practice in community initiatives

MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain)'s multi-stranded approach to community sponsorship programmes has been applauded at the recent Strategic Event Management Festival 2007 in Dubai.

The event was attended by marketing and PR professionals from a range of industries and some of the region's leading organizations.

According to Marketing Communications Specialist, Mohammed Haji, MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain)'s sponsorship initiatives underscore the company's commitment to its host community and have contributed significantly to developing a positive and strong reputation in a highly competitive market.

A leader in its field of telecommunications, MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) won the Campaign Middle East Media Planning Bronze Award for the 'Best Use of Sponsorship' to promote its 3G services. This recognition of strength in marketing and communications and strategic sponsorship initiatives has further enhanced the organization's reputation in the kingdom.

Addressing delegates at the conference, Mr Haji told experts in the events management field how MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain)'s lead in community-based sponsorship programmes is demonstrating the company's caring contribution to the local community and its commitment to Bahrain's long-term, sustainable development.

'MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain)'s corporate sponsorship programme is part of our objective to play a valuable role in our host community. The programme places MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) firmly in the heart of Bahrain's community delivering support for learning and sporting initiatives. The result is that the company has developed a strong reputation as a responsible corporate citizen enabling us to become part of the fabric of life in the kingdom.'



Conference delegates heard how the company focuses on corporate sponsorship of sports and education. The MTC-Vodafone e-Learning Centre within the University of Bahrain, Bahrain's first higher education e-Learning centre, uses highly advanced technology in a drive to adopt and develop future learning concepts. A number of institutes for special educational needs, including The Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Center for Speech and Hearing Development, have used MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain)'s generous donations to improve their facilities and bring light into the students' lives.

Mr Haji added: 'Sports sponsorship has increased Bahrain's international profile beyond the Kingdom with events like the Inter Milan v Bahrain football match putting us on the world map. More recently, we sponsored the Swatch FIVB World Tour Men's Open - a beach volleyball tournament, another first for Bahrain which attracted the world media spotlight.'

MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain)'s ongoing involvement in sponsorship is continuing to reach out to customers and the wider public, and by developing new and innovative initiatives, the company is engaging an ever wider community.
