Umniah and Save the Children organize a free medical day in Irbid

Umniah, subsidiary of Batelco Bahrain and the latest mobile operator in Jordan, together with Save the Children recently organized a free medical day for Irbid residents.

In cooperation with the Society for the Care of Disabled Children as part of Umniah's endeavor to establish corporate social responsibility and enhance its position in the society. The event was held on Monday, 13th May, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Disabled Society for the Care of Disabled Children's head quarter in Irbid within the framework of "Najah" program, which was lately launched by Umniah in partnership with Save the Children.

The medical day events started at the society's headquarter, where people from all over Irbid headed to subject to comprehensive medical check ups conducted by a group of professional Jordanian Doctors. Irbid residents as well as disabled children from inside and outside the society have all subjected to examinations, and patients who needed medical care were transferred to public hospitals to get the necessary treatment. Eventually, giveaways were distributed on the doctors and participants as well as Irbid residents.

This medical event stresses Umniah's vital corporate social responsibility and its effective role in developing health, social and economic sectors in Jordan, in addition to its insistence together with Save the Children on helping sick people and spread health awareness among different society segment throughout the Kingdom. Also, Umniah has always believed in the importance of private sector's role in developing society and its activities, and the importance of contributing to the effective growth of Jordan in order to build a healthy integrated society.

"Umniah has always contributed to social activities especially those related to health and children, and has always been a pioneer in holding special events that stresses its social responsibility," said Mrs. Ranya Abu Khader Salfiti, Communication and Public Relations Manager at Umniah voicing her gratitude for the people's great interaction with the medical day. "I want to express my gratitude for the efforts exerted by Save the Children and would like to thank the Society for the Care of Disabled Children for hosting this special medical day which enabled Umniah's employees to interact with and help a large number of people," she added.

"NAJAH" is a pilot program developed by Save the Children through the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Jordan and targets Jordanian youth aged between 18-24 in an effort to better link young people to their community and the economy. Umniah, through its partnership with Save the Children to sponsor Najah, plays a vital role in supporting efforts aiming at helping the youth and fighting unemployment, thus enhancing its strategic approach to establish a corporate social responsibility and communicate with all segments of society.
