- PRESS RELEASE
Tejari, the region's leading online marketplace, has been recognized as a leading strategic procurement partner by Dubai Municipality, with an award from the Municipality's Purchasing and Contracts department.
Dubai Municipality is one of the most significant members of Tejari's marketplace community, using the procurement portal for 95% of its procurement processes. The Municipality has been a Tejari member since 2001, and uses the online marketplace to source a diverse range of requirements from a wide supplier base.
Tejari also provides consultancy to the Municipality, through the Tejari Expert service, which provides strategic direction on procurement practices. The Municipality is using Tejari Expert to help its contracts and purchasing department gain comprehensive visibility into their procurement expenditure and to assess its suppliers through a supplier performance management program. Tejari Expert has enabled the Municipality to create a benchmarking program to consolidate, standardize and promote best practices in the Municipality's buying processes.
"Working with Tejari has transformed our purchasing and procurement processes by streamlining and giving us more visibility than ever before. Tejari is not just an online marketplace -- it is a strategic partner that had enabled Dubai Municipality to increase the efficiency of our procurement, which in turn helps to provide services to the community of Dubai in a more cost effective and timely manner," said Ibrahim Yaqoub Ali, Head of Purchasing and Contracts Department, Dubai Municipality.
To reap further benefits from Tejari, Dubai Municipality in 2005 integrated its ERP system with the online marketplace. This integration enables the organization to launch auctions directly on the Tejari marketplace without any need to re-enter data, and receive bids directly into its back-office system, reducing manual data entry and speeding up the procurement cycle.
"Dubai Municipality is an organization that has made a commitment to improve government services by adopting international best practices in the area procurement, so that today it stands as a great example of an organization willing to step up to the next level and gain the benefits of e-business," said Omar Hijazi, CEO of Tejari.
