Al Majid Motors launches three new Kia Carens MPV models
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, May 29 - 2007 at 15:15
- PRESS RELEASE
The all-new Kia Carens compact MPV has just been launched in the UAE by Al Majid Motors Co (Member of Juma Al Majid Group), the sole distributor for Kia vehicles in the UAE.
A little over 4.5 metres long, the new Carens offers seating for up to seven people and has been created specifically with unique features and styling for the local market.
Longer, wider and taller than its predecessor, the latest Carens has an all-new, thoroughly modern appearance - outside and inside the vehicle. None of the body panels of the previous model have been retained.
"With the new Carens we are presenting consumers with a surprisingly spacious yet compact MPV with greatly improved quality and performance," says Samir Tayeh, President of Al Majid Motors Co.
"The new Carens marks a major advance for our compact MPV model," he said. "It incorporates a host of significant improvements in every category - design, comfort, performance, versatility, quality and safety while fully demonstrating our three core KIA brand aspirations - quality, trustworthy and dynamic.
"I am sure the new Carens will have great appeal to new and existing customers all across UAE," Mr Tayeh said.
Kia's R&D teams have created an all-new Carens line-up that offers customers new benefits in areas so important to compact MPV buyers - cabin space, seating comfort, accommodation versatility and overall packaging.
Making best use of the wider cabin, which also has a lower floor and higher roof, the seven seats in the new Carens combine superior support with generous proportions to accommodate drivers and passengers of all shapes and sizes. The rear row seats in the seven-seater version will accommodate two 1.8 metre tall adults in genuine comfort. The middle and rear row seats folded down to create a flat-floored luggage area.
Kia is offering UAE customers a 144.5 ps gasoline engine with five-speed manual gearbox or four-speed automatic transmissions. The choice of transmissions will ensure that the new Carens has broad appeal - to families, active couples, private buyers and fleet customers.
New Carens' significantly wider track, longer wheelbase and stiffer body shell have all enhanced the new model's agility, ride, handling and safety.
The fully independent suspension system is designed to deliver a supple, comfortable ride on UAE-type roads while the hydraulic power-assisted rack and pinion steering system with relatively high gearing provides agile handling in everyday driving. Greatly enhanced stopping power is delivered by the new Carens' all-disc braking system.
New Carens is manufactured in South Korea at Kia's recently refurbished Gwangju assembly plant in the far south, which now has the capacity to produce up to 150,000 vehicles annually.
