Since winning one of the two National Fixed Wireless Service (NFWS) licenses, Mena Telecom's specialist team have been working closely with leading international vendors to develop a world-class solution for delivering wireless telecommunication services.

WiMax is fourth generation (4G) wireless technology and will be used to provide a range of fixed and nomadic telecommunications services, including broadband and telephony.

The WiMax technology will allow Mena Telecom to provide wireless broadband services; fixed telephony services; broadband telephony and VoIP bundles; virtual PBX and IP Centrex solutions; Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and data networking solutions; nomadic services and other value-added services such as e-Business and multi-media services.

To ensure Mena Telecom stays in touch with the very latest developments around this technology, it has become a member of the WiMax Forum, which is an international, industry led, not-for-profit organisation. The aim of the forum is to accelerate the introduction of wireless broadband technology into the market world-wide. Mena Telecom understands the importance of working with this forum to ensure that the Kingdom's views are fully represented and that the systems they set-up meet both customer and regulatory requirements.

The WiMax services introduced by Mena Telecom will be in addition to its current portfolio of products and services which includes international fixed landline calls where customers benefit from savings of 30%. Mena Telecom also has one of the most popular international prepaid calling cards in the Bahrain market called MenaTalk. MenaTalk calling cards offer up to 80% reductions on international calls and customers can also set-up a mobile prepaid top-up account.
