- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, May 30 - 2007 at 12:37
- PRESS RELEASE
As a result of its growing reputation in international education and development circles, The British University in Dubai (BUiD) is to hold a special seminar for built environment students from Hong Kong this week.
In addition, they were provided with an overview of some of the major projects currently under development within the region. Following the seminar, the students will be taken on a tour of the Palm Jebel Ali by Nakheel, a leader in construction and sustainability which has worked closely with BUiD in its research.
Hong Kong is recognised as an international centre for modern design and architecture and is currently building the International Commerce Centre which, when completed in 2010, will become the world's fourth tallest tower. The decision by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to bring the delegation to BUiD reflects the institution's increasingly international profile.
"The British University in Dubai is developing a global reputation for the strength of our research, particularly in fields that have a direct relevance and importance for the local economy. We are pleased to welcome this special delegation from Hong Kong and look forward to sharing insights with them," said Vice-Chancellor Dr. Abdullah M. Alshamsi, British University in Dubai.
With the ongoing participation of senior lecturers and students at knowledge exchange events like this, the British University is not just witnessing an expansion in enrolment; it is also reinforcing its reputation for standards of excellence in the cultivation of tomorrow's leaders.
Dr. Mohammed Dulaimi, Institute of Engineering, British University in Dubai, said "The British University is excited to have students and staff from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University here. Their interest in our activities and research are appreciated and serve as a strong indicator of the growing international appreciation of the British University as a leader in education in the Middle East."
