'Dubai the City that Cares' pushes gold sales to 100 million Dhs within 9 days in Ramadan

Sales of Gold and Jewelry Group witnessed a noticeable increase during the last two weeks, and is expected to increase even more during the second half of the holy month of Ramadan.

Experts have confirmed that the activities sponsored by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) as well as the many valuable gifts that the DCCI and the Gold and Jewelry Group are giving away have aided the increase in sales, seen through the amount of coupons which customers have received from the participating Gold and Jewelry Group outlets. These coupons allow customers to take part in the many draws currently taking place which give away many valuable prizes, not to mentions the final prize worth Dhs 1 Million offered by The Gold & Jewelry Group at the end of the 'Dubai the City that Cares 2002' Ramadan campaign.

'The total amount of coupons given out by the 300 participating Gold and Jewelry stores in Dubai had already reached 200,000 coupons by the first half of Ramadan; that is, the equivalent of Dhs 100 Million worth of coupons,' said Mr. Hani Rashid Al Yateem, Vice-President of the Gold & Jewelry Group. 'This amount does not include purchases made worth less than Dhs 500, which do not entitle the buyer for a coupon, and which make up 20% of the total sales of the outlets. The Gold & Jewelry Group wish to distribute 500,000 coupons worth Dhs 250 Million by the end of 'Dubai the City that Cares 2002', these coupons will allow individuals to take part in the draws to win a total of 6 apartments in the Jumeira Beach Residence offered by DCCI and a final prize of Dhs 1 Million offered by the Gold & Jewelry Group.

'We are very proud to have taken part in this years Dubai, the City that Cares campaign as main sponsors and would like to thank the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for allowing us this opportunity. Our main aim is to increase the sales of gold and jewelry in Dubai as well as participate in charitable activities taking place throughout this holy month of Ramadan.'

The Gold & Jewelry Group, made up of 300 outlets, is also going to be taking part in the charitable activities taking place during 'Dubai the City that Cares 2002'. They will be donating the sum of Dhs 50,000 to organizations such as Rashid Pediatric Centre, UICEF and the UAE Red Crescent.

The main objectives in running DCC 2002 for the 5th year are to activate the retail sector, activate the charity activities, and promote Dubai as a commercial and tourist destination. This year, the partnership with UNICEF and the UAE Red Crescent will enhance the charitable activities for the children of the world. 'The month of Ramadan reminds us to share, care and help one another. We are grateful for all the efforts from our sponsors and from the people who will participate in our activities to help people less fortunate than ourselves during this holy time,' said Mr. Thani Juma Berregad, Chief Co-ordinator, Dubai, the City that Cares 2002.

'Dubai the City that Cares 2002' started on 2nd November and will run until 12th December 2002. It is sponsored by American Express, Dubai Islamic Bank, Jumeira Beach Residence, Gold & Jewelry Group, Dubai Shopping Malls Group, and Al Zarouni Group.
