RTA honors all players in Dubai win of UITP 59th Conference for 2011

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Board Chairman and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that the support from H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-president, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and the follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai's Executive Council were behind Dubai's win to host the 59th Conference of the International Association of the World Public Transport (UITP) for the year 2011, after a fierce competition with Singapore and Melbourne of Australia.

That was mentioned in a speech H.E. Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of Public Transport Agency, delivered on behalf of Al Tayer on awarding ceremony to honor the government agencies and private organizations who had contributed to support the RTA's efforts during the competition time to host the conference and exhibition.

The awarding ceremony was held at Godolphin of Emirates Towers in the presence of a number of CEOs and directors of the RTA.

Al Tayer said that this key event is considered a great opportunity for the experts, specialists and policy decision makers in the public transport and urban fields to showcase the latest in the transport systems, corporate policies, technology, industrial innovations and financial plans, as well as discussing the best practices, exchanging the views and learning from the successful experiences achieved in different parts of the world.

"Your tireless efforts and cooperation played a key role in the host of this conference that is held every two years where more than two thousand participants from 170 countries would be attending, which enhances Dubai's stature as a leading international city in the host of international conferences and exhibitions, pointing out that RTA's endeavors to make Dubai a pioneering city in the public transport and mobility in the region, where participants would be briefed to what the UAE breakthroughs in general and Dubai's in particular on all fronts,' he added.

Al Tayer encouraged the government agencies and private organizations to deliver all types of support to the RTA to make this international event a success and tone with Dubai's stance as a trade center and leading conference and exhibition organizer regionally and internationally.

During the ceremony, a brief presentation was delivered about the preparations the RTA was making during the competition to win the host.

Al Mulla after all honored the government agencies and organizations who had contributed to bolster the RTA's efforts to win the host. Among the honorees were Dubai Municipality, Dubai Economic Department, Tourism and Commerce Marketing Department, Jebel Free Zone Authority (JAFZA), Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Ports and Customs Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Civil Aviation Department, Dubai Convention Center, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Mercedes Benz Company, Sharjah Transport, Emirates Transport, Oman National Transport Company, Kuwait Public Transport Company, KSA Public Transport Company, Qatar Transport, Cars Taxi, Al Shirawi Enterprises, Gargash Enterprises, Raywood Telecoms, Dubai Islamic Bank, Ceotrack Company and Dubai Technology.

Al Mulla also honored the Supervising Committee Members for the follow-up of the International Public Transport Association events.
