Dubai smoking ban

Public departments in Dubai will become smoke-free environments from today (Thursday) as part of a longer-term strategy to ban smoking from all public places, Gulf News reports. Smoking will be banned in phases with more anti-smoking clinics set up. The UAE is required to submit a progress report on anti-tobacco measures to the World Health Organisation by February 2008.
