Canon Middle East set for the next stage of innovation and growth

Widmark, previously the Marketing Director of Canon in Sweden, has served the company since 1987 in various capacities. During his 20 year tenure with Canon he has acquired extensive business knowledge, from sales to product development and product marketing.

The new MD succeeds Gordon Jones, who has headed Canon Middle East for the past 8.5 years. A true company architect, Jones was instrumental in Canon's expansion in the emerging markets throughout the region. He consolidated the distribution channel in the Middle East and further took over, structured and optimized the network in Africa, comprising of 21 African French speaking countries. Jones set up the first representative office in Dubai in 1998, and further established Canon Middle East as a full subsidiary with extensive logistics facilities in the region.

In 2001 he became President and continued to lead the company through a highly successful growth. Overall, Jones has been a major driving force in the management business of Canon Middle East and has had a vast impact on the company's achievements. "I am immensely proud of Canon's success in the past years and confident that Canon will undoubtedly continue to thrive across MENA region", stated Jones.

"Canon Middle East is fortunate to have someone with Mr. Widmark's experience and drive assuming operating responsibility for Canon during this period of rapid growth. Given his background unmistakably this growth will continue", commented Gordon Jones on his successor.
