'ShowOFF 32' exhibition opens

'ShowOFF 32', the arts and media exhibition organized by Dubai Women's College, opened yesterday at the Dubai Ladies Club.
The projects featured at the two-day event, demonstrating dynamic and promising concepts from the students of Dubai Women's College, will be catalogued. They range from photography, graphic design and media production to journalism. The show is open to the public on Monday 4 June from 9.30am onwards.
Dr. Howard Reed, Senior Director at Higher Colleges of Technology and DWC Director, said: "The exhibition illustrates the abundant talent and the passion among students in the region to take up a career in the media.
"Today's students have the resources and skills to create remarkable projects. These works exhibit their knowledge and depth of learning in their focus areas. Events like this will certainly help media professionals skim the very best talent for their organisations."
'ShowOFF 32' provides a platform for participants to highlight their capabilities to various media groups. Students also get an opportunity to network with professionals across the sectors, from print, broadcast media and news network providers to advertising and public relations.
Roudha Al Marri, an undergraduate in Media Production who is also working with the Arab Media Group, said: "It is an honour to participate in an event like this. More than being a great opportunity, the event also offers me an experience to interact with media professionals to gain first hand insight into the industry. Additionally, I will acquire further knowledge on what to expect at the beginning of my career."
Another student, Al Joud Lootah, in her Graphic Design degree course, added: "To learn is to experience and to experience is to gain wisdom. Dubai Women's College offers all these and much more. That is why when we leave the institution, we feel confident and ready to face career prospects independently."
