RTA carries on improving Al Ittihad Road

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it would begin converting traffic through temporary diversion in the direction from Sharjah to Dubai at the end of this month.

The other direction from Dubai to Sharjah was converted earlier in the month of May last through well equipped diversion at the part located between the intersection between Al Qeyadah and Mullah Plaza.

The traffic will remain constant through these temporary diversions until the end of the project in October 2008.

Eng Maitha Bin Adai CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency said that these diversions comes within the framework of a comprehensive project started in January this year to develop Al Ittihad Road as a part of a comprehensive plan to expand the road within an integrated system of expansion projects to improve the roads in the Emirate to cope with the growth and developments in Dubai and to meet the current and future needs for roads and transportation, within a strategy to cope the requirements of development and to meet the explanation needs of population.

She pointed out that the diversion has been equipped with all traffic requirements necessary to ensure easy and security flow for all the road users including the implementation of additional temporary optical signals in the project area and neighboring areas to organize and facilitate traffic flow.

She explained that the diversion has divided into two phases, the first was opened at the beginning of May, while working for the processing of the second which is expected to open this month and continued to be in use up to October 2008.
