Emirates Post's Training Centre and UPU enter into collaboration to enhance training standards

Emirates Post's Training and Development Centre (TDC) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU) have entered into a collaboration to raise training standards through exchange of technical data, missions and training programs for the benefit of local and regional postal organizations.
The Training and Development Centre is fully equipped to extend training services to postal authorities from Arab countries.
"This partnership with Emirates Post's Training & Development Centre will help UPU take its training programs closer to the postal operators in the Middle East region," said Mr. Dayan. "Participants in the various training programs can expect high global standards as UPU teams will regularly oversee TDC's training methodologies and course material in order to ensure conformity with UPU standards."
"As a result of the MoU, we will be able to match our training standards to global standards. This will raise Emirates Post's profile regionally and globally, as all our training programs will based on UPU standards and updated regularly through exchange of technical data and visits by consultants," commented Abdullah Al Daboos, Director General, Emirates Post.
"We aim to impart advanced training to our employees, especially UAE nationals. As the UAE postal and logistics sectors are evolving, we will be able to train professionals who can occupy strategic positions in these sectors. This way, we will be able to overcome the shortage of trained manpower in these fields," said Wiaam Ghanem.
The Training and Development Centre has been conducting training programs for postal employees from Arab countries, including Qatar and Oman. Soon, specialised courses will be conducted for employees of Iraqi Post.
The MoU strengthens further the relationship between between Emirates Post and the UPU. Emirates Post is already a member of the UPU Council of Administration, a body that decides a number of important postal policy matters. Also, in November 2006, Emirates Post hosted the UPU Strategy Conference in an Arab country for the very first time.
