Global Investment House sponsors 2007 CFA examination

Global Investment House 'Global' announced its sponsorship of the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) examination, held recently on the grounds of the International Fairs in Mishref, with around 350 participants.

This sponsorship comes in line with Global's commitment to raise the professional abilities of the financial analysts in Kuwait up to the international levels.

Commenting on this important event, Mrs. Khawlah Al-Roumi- Senior Vice President, Personnel & Administration at Global, said that Global recognizes the significance of education and learning, particularly in the area of finance and investment. This certification valuably contributes to upgrading the professional performance of the graduates, and supports the investment sector with the necessary advanced expertise.

"Our sponsorship of this certification stems from our recognition of the significance of education and information in upgrading the performance of the individual and the sector in general. The certificate also valuably contributes to enhancing the professional level of the graduate, and supports the investment sector with the necessary expertise needed for uplifting the operating standards of the investment companies to the international standards,"

Al-Roumi added.

Mrs. Al-Roumi further mentioned that Global currently has 5 certified financial analysts who hold the internationally accredited CFA certificate and another 41 staff member who endeavor to obtain the different levels of this certification.

Explaining the professional nature of this certificate, Al-Roumi said that the CFA is one of the important qualifications in the field of investment, enabling the specialists to accurately and thoroughly read and analyze corporate financial data and accordingly provide investment portfolios and funds managers with the necessary recommendations.

"Global is fully aware of the significance of financial sciences in general, and the CFA certification in particular, in supporting the Kuwaiti and regional investment sector, and in raising its level to the standards of the global markets, especially that the Kuwaiti and regional markets have been long established and enjoy a notable size and weight in the Arab world", said Al-Roumi.

"We at Global encourage all employees and those interested in the investment sector to reinforce their experience with such a certificate that serves them both at the personal and practical level", she added.

Noteworthy in this regard is that financial analysis comprises several phases including the arrangement and classification of financial data in analogous sets, then analyzing and comparing the data so as to explore the existing relationships among various items of the assets and liabilities and the financial position. These steps are followed by investigating the reasons for the existence of such relations, and finally by providing the explanation and the conclusion.

"Global has sponsored the CFA examination for the last four years, and will continue its support and sponsorship of this examination in consistence with its commitment to developing the Kuwaiti investment market, as well as in line with its belief in the important role of the education in developing this market", Al-Roumi explained.

"Global pays special attention and extreme care to developing its staff members. This is clearly manifested in providing specialized training courses for its employees in all areas of business. These courses are designed to upgrade the educational level and professional performance of the staff, thus enabling them to constantly render a better customer service", she concluded.

It is worth mentioning that Global is one of the largest investment companies in the Middle East, with around 426 staff members working in the different departments of the Company and its branches in Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Jordan.
