Trowers & Hamlins launches new Saudi law firm association

Strategically important move will help deliver on ambitious growth plans Trowers & Hamlins, the international law firm, is to launch an association with the Saudi Arabian law firm Feras Al Shawaf Lawyers & Legal Advisers.

Trowers & Hamlins says that the agreement is a major step forward in the continued development for the firm's Saudi Arabian practice.

Leroy Levy, Partner and head of Trowers & Hamlins Saudi Practice explains: "We've worked on some amazing deals in the Islamic finance, petrochemical and power sectors. Having said that we're not content. We're hungry and we want to build on our success. We can only do that with the right Saudi partner. Feras Shawaf is great news for us."

Feras Shawaf has been practicing for 10 years in Riyadh and has built up a very impressive track record. His clients include SABIC, Savola and Huawei.

Adds Levy, "Feras has a very strong pedigree. What's impressive about him is that he represents the new generation of Saudi national who grew up during the oil boom of the 1970s and is now assuming positions of leadership in all walks of life in the Kingdom."

Adds Feras Shawaf: "This is a very exciting development. I've known Leroy for several years and there is real chemistry between us. Our combined forces will create a dynamic force in the Kingdom."

Despite going it alone since February this year, Trowers & Hamlins have won a number of significant instructions in Saudi Arabia including, picking up two petrochemical projects and a substantial real-estate financing.
