Qatar Charity adopts Javna's wireless solutions
- Jordan: Sunday, June 10 - 2007 at 11:17
- PRESS RELEASE
Qatar Charity (QC) has signed with Javna a bilateral agreement under which this leading Arab company in the field of specialized software solutions and wireless applications would provide the agency with a Messaging Platform.
Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the commission, Khalid Al Hammadi, said the Messaging Platform would help the Charity carry out its humanitarian mission and publicize its local and international activities via mobile phones. The platform will also enable individuals and institutions to send their donations, with no place and time restrictions.
Al Hamadi said, "We are so keen on making available all possible means of comfort for donors from institutions and individuals. After all, they are our partners in alleviating the distress of others and helping the needy. We are fully aware of the hardship some might face when they have to come to the headquarters to contribute to one of our field activities. So we wanted to spare them that."
For his part, IT director at QC, Nasser Al Daoudi, said the Messaging Platform would provide the Charity with the necessary infrastructure to communicate with its employees and offices all around the world via SMS, without any hurdles related to place or time, especially in the remote areas of the world.
Javna's CEO Mansour Mansour, highlighted the vital role of the platform and the dynamism the system would provide the commission and its employees, who will be able to exchange SMS and data inside Qatar and abroad via their mobile phones, at zero cost.
In addition, this smart system, as Mansour remarked, is able to identify the party or department addressed with the message, adding that the content of these messages can be derived automatically from the various data bases of the Charity so that they reach their exact destination.
For example, he explained, the system can notify employees that their salaries have been deposited in their accounts, with mentioning the exact sum for each employee. Staff members can also inquire about their account of leaves and receive the response instantly.
At the technical level, Mansour said the wireless system comprises seven major applications. These are:
• Epicenter-DAC to identify SMS, whose content can be derived from the various data bases like Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle 10g, in addition to the possibility of programming the timing of these messaging (day and hour).
• Epicenter-Enterprise for the exchange of SMS among the Commission's employees inside Qatar and abroad. Because this application is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2003 and MS Active Directory ®, it enables users to just verify logging in once, without the need to log in every time they need to send SMS.
• Epicenter 2Way SMS Module, for automatic and instant inquiry about the activities of the Commission via SMS.
• Epicenter Mobile Donation, which is used to complete the donation process within a safe and protected environment. This application, which employs Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME), provides general information that guide donors to send their contribution via mobiles, with the possibility of defining the exact charity project they want to contribute to.
• For better productivity and dynamism, Javna has included Epicenter HRH application to help the Commission's employees inside Qatar and abroad to communicate with the various departments of the Commission using secure channels through GPRS. The application enables them to carry out operations and send requests and inquiries of matters of concern to them such as leave days accounts, requests of leaving during the work day, extension of leaves, and other common job-related procedures.
• To ensure the effectiveness of this system, it was built to support all channels of communication with the aim of helping the Communication's staff to remain in contact and carry put operations everywhere in the world. To maximize effectiveness for users, the application supports communication channels through GSM Modem and Short Codes.
• Last but not least, the Messaging Platform harnesses Epicenter Microsoft Outlook Module that is used to instantly notify employees through SMS of emails they receive. Another feature is that they can send SMS to all their contacts on the MS Outlook contacts list and make sure that they have reached their destinations.
