Hyundai awards E K Kanoo's Motorcity-AITAPCO as Best Distributor for the Middle East

Setting Bahrain as the pride of the Middle East, Motorcity-AITAPCO, part of the E K Kanoo Group of companies, has been awarded 'Best Distributor for the Middle East' for Hyundai Construction equipment products.

The 'Excellent Performance Distributor of the Year for 2007' award was presented on behalf of Hyundai Heavy Industries by Mr K H Park, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Executive Vice President of Construction Equipment Division at a dinner hosted by Mr Park for distributors and customers of Middle East and Africa at Gyeongju in South Korea.

Mr Park was highly complimentary about the excellent performance of Motorcity-AITAPCO in Bahrain during 2007 and said that this achievement emphasised its strong commitment to world-class service.

This exciting award was accepted on behalf of Motorcity-AITAPCO, by Mr Ranjit Radhakrishnan - Sales Manager Commercial - Motorcity, who said, "This is a real honour for our company in Bahrain to be awarded such a prestigious accolade. I accept this award with pride on behalf of the team in Bahrain and thank them for their exceptional hard work and enthusiasm which has shown such excellent results in 2007."

Mr. Chris Edwards, Asst. General Manager, Motorcity added "It is exciting to see Bahrain's current spurt of growth and we are proud to say that Hyundai Heavy Industry equipment is playing a strong role in helping to build a Bahrain of the future. We have had to grow quickly to keep up with demand and now have equipment with almost every old and new project happening in Bahrain from Minis Excavators, to Crawler and Wheel Excavators, Fork lift trucks and Hydraulic machinery."

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), founded by the late honorary chairman Chung Ju-yung on March 23, 1972, opened its first chapter of shipbuilding history in June 1974. A decade after its first delivery, the Hyundai Shipyard topped 10 million deadweight tons in aggregate ship production, and has maintained the leading position in the world shipbuilding market ever since. The development of the Hyundai Shipyard's drive has mirrored the growth of modern Korean heavy industry. The success of Hyundai Shipyard allowed it to expand into other heavy industry areas, which ultimately led to the formation of Hyundai Heavy Industries, an integrated heavy industry company.

Motor City is a company within the EK Kanoo Group, which is synonymous with Bahrain's automotive and equipment sector. Motor City is the merger of three Group companies - AITAPCO, BMSC and Al Jazira Motor Company that had been operating as separate entities for around two decades. During 2007, Motorcity AITAPCO worked hard to maintain its reputation in superior customers service as well as value for money, and it would appear that its strategy has now paid off.
