- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) organised a discussion forum to lay down the foundation and strategy to create the right pool of talent in the UAE for the microelectronics industry.
The objective of the forum is to recommend guidelines in promoting technology transfer to the country. The discussions focused on the importance of the microelectronics industry, future opportunities and ingredients for success, and the requirements of the academic sector in the UAE to enhance technology curriculums.
Dr. Jumma Al Matrooshi, Chief Corporate Services Officer - DSOA, said: "Organising this discussion panel goes in line with our objective to promote the technology industry in the region in general and the UAE in specific. This forum offers the perfect opportunity to share research results, discuss new technologies, and assess academic curriculum."
The forum also highlighted the importance of exploring the tools and applications for universities in the UAE to provide students with hands on experience in their area of specialisation. It also outlined the key relationship between organisations and universities in fostering talent pools required for IC design through academic programmes.
Highlighting the importance of education, Dr. Eesa Mohammad Al Bastaki, Director of Education and Technology - DSOA, said: "Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority is working on creating an industry in Dubai and the first step towards establishing this is through training and developing the skills and talents available within the country. Therefore, DSOA is working side by side with local universities to make sure that the students are fully prepared to operate within the microelectronics industry at the undergraduate level."
DSOA aims to become the number one high-tech hub in the Middle East, providing single window service and free zone incentives. It operates as a technology park for semiconductors, microelectronics and other electronic-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and R&D divisions.
