Abu Dhabi to participate in ITE Hong Kong

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi will make its first appearance at the 21st International Travel Expo (ITE), to be held in Hong Kong from June 14 to 17 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Having become one of the most significant international tourism shows in the world, the ITE Hong Kong has proven itself as an effective platform for tourism promotion on the ever-growing Asian market. ITE Hong Kong is also an important platform for the sharing of ideas and information, as well as for business transactions.

Commenting on Abu Dhabi's participation in the annual event, H.E Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), said the first appearance of Abu Dhabi on this important tourism show was part of the ADTA's commitment and efforts to discover promising tourism markets in the world and to strengthen its presence on those markets, adding that Asia, in general and China, in particular, had achieved in recent time a significant tourism development to become one of the world's most significant sources of tourists and the most influencing to the development of international tourism

Sheikh Sultan said ADTA will strive during the ITE Hong Kong to market and promote Abu Dhabi and its unique tourism potentials to the participants, adding that ADTA will identify the preferences and priorities of tourists from that part of the world in order to include those priorities in the tourism development plans of Abu Dhabi.

Six hundred and twenty exhibitors, including 45 national pavilions, from 55 countries took part in last year's show which attracted 10,500 corporate and trade visitors, over 55,000 visitors from the general public and 640 media persons who covered the four-day event.

International tourism markets have, in recent years, started focusing on China with the aim of attracting a large number of its about 1.3 billion population to boost their respective tourism industries. The International Tourism Organisation expected China to supply about a hundred million tourists by the year 2020.
