Sultan bin Tahnoun receives US media delegation

H.E. Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), received a 13-member US media delegation.
During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan reviewed with them issues related to tourism in Abu Dhabi and the emirate's plans for its tourism sector aimed at boosting Abu Dhabi's position on the world tourism map.
Sheikh Sultan took from the media persons a number of questions related to ongoing tourism projects in the emirate, the most significant activities lined up by Abu Dhabi and development plans for Abu Dhabi's tourism facilities, in addition to the various projects on the development of a number of Abu Dhabi islands, how best those projects can be tapped to boost tourism in Abu Dhabi and the number of American tourists visiting Abu Dhabi.
The ADTA chairman stressed on the special aspects of Abu Dhabi's tourist product and cited ecotourism and the emirate's cultural and heritage aspects as a major attraction to tourists, particularly those from the West. He reiterated the significance of the US market for tourism in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Sultan said the years ahead will see ADTA focusing on the exhibition sector, adding that the emirate will host a number of international exhibitions and events which would seize the opportunity to consolidate their presence in the region.
The delegation was scheduled to visit a number of high profile tourist attractions in Abu Dhabi, including a safari trip in the desert to have first hand information and direct contact with Abu Dhabi's culture, heritage and nature.
