Former UNESCO Chairperson hosts DIHRD programme on 'Team Building and Leadership'

Professor Reem Obeidat, the former Chairperson of UNESCO for Communication Technology and Journalism for Women, is hosting a three-day programme on 'Team Building and Leadership', organised by Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development (DIHRD) for government officials.
A group of officials from Dubai Government attended the session on the first day. Prof Obeidat focused on a number of important aspects of leadership, especially the working mechanisms and the formation of teams and effective communication within the team, in addition to creating the right environment for success.
Prof Obaidat said: "The basic and most effective feature in a modern organisation is teamwork by which ordinary functions can be executed efficiently to increase productivity".
During the session, Prof. Obaidat presented case studies of successful teamwork at leading global corporations including mobile phone company Nokia and the car and truck manufacturer Volvo. She pointed out that global majors focus on an individual's ability to communicate with team members during the recruitment stage itself.
The DIHRD sessions range from lectures on theory to group discussions to obtain maximum results.
Prof. Obeidat has delivered lectures at several leading academic institutions in the Arab world, including the American University in Cairo, UAE University, Zayed University and the University of Bahrain. She has also conducted programmes at the Supreme Council for Women in Bahrain, the Turkish Foundation for Economic and Social Studies and the Center for Information of the United Nations in Sana'a, Yemen.
