Saudi to issue line licences

  • Saudi Arabia: Thursday, June 14 - 2007 at 07:38

Three consortiums led respectively by Bahrain's Batelco, Hong Kong's PCCW and US firm Verizon Communications will receive licenses next month to provide land phone services in Saudi Arabia, Arab News reported. Analysts say the breaking of local telco STC's monopoly will improve Internet connections and reduce charges. The companies will start commercial operations a year after receiving their licenses.
