The ALDAR's Al Raha Beach development is already setting new standards in the procurement and delivery methods being employed in the region. The implementation of the NEC contract again highlights ALDAR's position as a development pioneer and will ensure not only fair practice methods but maximize efficiencies across the project.
"The implementation of the NEC contract throughout the complete supply chain at the Al Raha Beach Development is not only a first but also a massive step forward in the region. We believe that the NEC contract will attract world class vendors required for the efficient and timely delivery of the Al Raha Beach Development. The contract is a mechanism that will ensure quality, time and cost certainty through a collaborative integrated team approach,"
said Michael Cox, Development Director for Al Raha Beach.
The elements of the NEC contract that will make it so integral to the Al Raha Beach development relate to the type of practice and collaboration utilized throughout the project. For example, the integrated organisational structure of the project team promoted by the contract will ensure team work, trust and cooperation.
The delivery of the projects at Al Raha Beach is the responsibility of ALDAR Laing O'Rourke Joint Venture and the procedural perspective that the contract aims to consolidate, stipulates that all inter and intra organisational dealings will be fairer to all parties and non adversarial. Simple elements such as the use of straightforward language will aim to prevent any disputes but will help to resolve them if they occur.
"By adopting this contract, ALDAR have again demonstrated their commitment to pioneering new approaches to the delivery of major construction projects. The higher degree of fairness to all parties that the contract provides is enabling ALDAR Laing O'Rourke to attract the world's best talent for our own management staff, as well as the supply chain we require to work with us," added Managing Director for the JV Christopher Wilkinson.
