The celebrations, held in the newly renovated InterContinental Hotel Abu Dhabi, attracted many leading personalities from the UAE capital's education sector.

Speaking at the event, Daniel Balland, Director-General, PSUAD said: "We have a student body of more than 160 already enrolled in our programmes and are set to increase numbers even more.
"The new courses offer great scope for employment given the rapid growth of cities both regionally and worldwide. PSUAD, with its long tradition and history of providing internationally-recognised training will fulfil this need."

"The courses will enable our students to learn from some of the world's most renowned scholars, using the latest methodologies and curricula. They will have access to outstanding international examples of work in these sectors enabling them to add value to their workplaces immediately upon graduation.

"And in the near future, the students of the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi will enjoy a new spacious, comfortable and well equipped campus. This facility, designed to welcome up to 2000 students, will play a key role in developing PSUAD's contribution to Abu Dhabi cultural and educational objectives."

PSUAD currently follows the new European system of higher education, called the License-Masters-Doctorate (LMD) system.

The undergraduate portion consists of a three-year degree called a Licence. The graduate portion consists of a two-year Masters Degree, followed by a multi-year Doctoral programme.

These degrees are accepted at any University in the European Higher Education Area and offer specialisation in 'Archaeology & Art History', 'French & Comparative Literature', 'Geography & Urban Planning', 'History', 'Information & Communication' (specialisation of third year of BA, in Paris), 'Languages & Business', 'Philosophy & Sociology' and an Intensive French Programme.
